You won’t sing alone, you’ll sing with us!
You'll probably enjoy this if...
- You like blues, soul, RnB, gospel
- You used to sing in school or uni and miss it
- You haven't sung in a while and want to get back into it
- You want something musical back in your week
- You'd enjoy improving both vocally and musically
You don’t need choir experience
But you DO need to enjoy making real music with others
What happens on the night...
- You'll be allocated a date to come visit
- You'll join a normal rehearsal
- You sing with the choir, not alone.
- No solos, no auditions, no pressure
- You'll be guided by people in your section who know what they're doing
- You'll be supported by a director and live pianist
- We will do a vocal warmup together and then sing blues, soul and gospel arrangements

You'll have a chance to meet some of the other choir members during break time
- Afterwards, you decide if it's for you
What kinds of singers join
Our choir includes a wide range of ages and experience levels.
Most of the men who join:
- sang at school or played in bands at some point
- are returning to singing after a break or wanting to improve vocally
- have some musical instincts (reading music helps but isn’t required)
- want a satisfying musical outlet
- enjoy improving while still keeping it relaxed
The aim is simple — a welcoming environment that still produces a strong sound.
I joined MSG recently to improve my musicality and confidence but did not expect it to become such an important part of my life. The music and community is an infusion of energy that I always look forward to each week. The leadership and musical mentorship are also excellent and so much more than I bargained for.
So much fun, beautiful friendships and wonderful singing experiences!

I started in MSG as an intern and music student. Over the past 10 years, MSG has provided countless amazing experiences. They really reach great heights for a community group. It's provided me a space to grow in skills and confidence. I now work professionally, directing my own choirs, performing and have been able to step into a new role as assistant director of the Choir.
I've been a passionate member of MSG for 8 years. No matter what you are going through, this choir WILL give you purpose, meaning and belonging.

MSG are such a warm and supportive community, and their level of musicianship and singing, especially for an un-auditioned community choir continues to delight and surprise me.
